Our Community Projects

Our Mission is to use soccer to positively impact youth social emotional learning and inspire healthy living through fitness.

Social Emotional Learning in Soccer

NBT Soccer is a nonprofit youth development program that uses soccer as a tool to provide our youth with opportunities to learn social, emotional, and practical skills needed for personal and academic success. We remove barriers, so low income youth from all homes are welcomed to experience the joy of soccer and have access to quality skill building opportunities.

In our words, Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) is the focus on social and emotional skills of how to interact with others, how to understand yourself, how to behave in a way that you’re suppose to in different settings. The five core building blocks of SEL are self awareness, self management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision making.

Our curriculum is designed to create a safe space that supports SEL by building positive relationships, encouraging creative behavior, and using restorative circles to discuss group issues or reflect on emotions.

After School Program

How It Works: Students practice twice a week on-site at their schools, where they develop soccer and critical SEL skills. This program limits the travel, expensive fees, and provides an equal opportunity for all families to participate. In addition, our coaches provide on-field equipment for the students to use during the trainings. All you need is a ball and a space to play- this is why soccer is for everyone!

Elementary School

Stage 1: provide a positive introduction to the game with quality opportunities for all youth players. Soccer is for everyone, so youth of all ages  need access to the game.

Middle & High School

Stage 2: We want to continue to build on strengths, learn, and grow together on and off the soccer field. The players start engaging in more complex conflict and resolution while collaborating with others as part of a team.

Post Graduation

Stage 3: Build pathways for students approaching young adulthood to successfully transition to college and careers.
